Yes, a BMS is always necessary for all types of 6S lithium-ion batteries, including LTO and other chemistries. It is also commonly referred to as a “6S Li-ion BMS.”

6S lithium-ion battery BMS helps ensure that individual batteries are within safe voltage and temperature ranges, prevents overcharging and over-discharging, and provides a layer of protection against potential problems that may arise during battery operation. Never operate a 6S lithium-ion battery without battery protection: it is dangerous for the battery and worse for people and property.
